Yennira Marrero – Bulkeley Softball All-Star

Congratulations to Yennira Marrero! On June 13 Marrero started at second base for the Connecticut Softball Senior All-Star team. She is only the third player in BHS history to earn a spot on this team and start the game. We’re so proud of you, and grateful to Coach Powers for building such an incredible program.

Well done, Yennira!

Bulkeley Community Day, Spring 2022

Wednesday, May 11, 2022 was Community Day at Bulkeley North! Community Day is a program put together by Mrs. Metayer and Mrs. Flores, supported by Mrs. Coles. The purpose of Community Day is to connect students and families with our many community partners. Groups like Hartford Hospital, Center for Latino Progress, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Hartford, and the Hartford Public Library (just to name a few) met with Bulkeley students during seminar. “We want our students and families to know the many resources available to them,” said Mrs. Metayer. “It’s our mission to see every student fulfil their potential.”

For more information, contact Mrs. Metayer at metam001@hartfordschools.org, or Mrs. Flores at chelsea.flores@hartfordschools.org.

Bulkeley High School is so grateful for the remarkable work this team does, connecting students to resources and opportunities in the Greater Hartford Area.

Bulldogs are Stronger than Breast Cancer

Friday, October 22 was Breast Cancer Awareness Day here at Bulkeley High School. Students in both campuses took a stand in support of women everywhere fighting this disease.

According to breastcancer.org, 1 in 8 women will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of a lifetime. In 2021, an estimated 281,550 new cases of invasive cancer, and another 49,290 of non-invasive cancer.  Tragically, as many as 43,600 women may not survive.  While it is far less common in men, an estimated 2,650 men will be diagnosed this year as well.

We are proud of our students in both campuses, young women and men,  who have participated in events at both campuses during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Let’s hope we find a cure soon.
