Dear Bulkeley  High School School Families,

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! We are so excited for the start of a great school year. We have been anxiously preparing and working together to ensure that when your children walk through the door, we will be ready to provide them with a first-class experience in their education. 

For those that may not know, my name is Myrna Metayer and I am the Family and Community Support Specialist Provider (FCSSP) at Bulkeley High School. This will be my 14th year working for Hartford Public Schools. 

In order to ensure a smooth opening, kindly read through all the
information below. If you have any questions, please contact our main
office. Thank you for working with us to make this a great school year!

Our first day of school for all Students is Tuesday, August 29 (a full day of school).

SCHOOL START AND DISMISSAL TIMES 

Full Day (all grades) 7:20 a.m.-2:40 p.m.

Half Days (all grades) 7:20 a.m.-11:20 a.m. (see school calendar)

Transportation

Per Hartford Public School Guidelines students must live 2 miles for High School Students for yellow school bus . Families will be notified by the transportation office regarding their bus stops and pick up/drop off times in August. Transportation number is 860-695-8547(Big Yellow Bus) and 860-461-7913(Small Yellow Bus). Please call the school with questions and concerns 860-695-1009.

BREAKFAST AND LUNCH

School breakfast and lunch will be free for all students.

Breakfast begins at 7:20 a.m.

SIGNING YOUR CHILD IN/OUT OF SCHOOL - ARRIVING LATE OR LEAVING EARLY

Students that arrive at school after 7:30 a.m. are considered tardy. If you arrive at school later than 7:30 a.m., please have the student check in at the office to sign in before heading to class. Your child will receive a late pass to enter their classroom. 

If your child needs to leave school early, please check in at the Main Office and the child will be dismissed.  All excused notes regarding absences from school or any doctor's must be turned in to the Main Office the next day or upon return to school.

Family members picking students up must be listed as a contact  and will be required to present an I.D. to staff. Students will not be released to anyone without this identification. 

Bulkeley High School STUDENT HANDBOOK

The Bulkeley Student handbook includes all relevant policies and procedures including how to report absences, attendance policies, discipline procedures, etc.. The handbook can be found on our school website (coming soon). and see the attachment below.

Our uniform policy  is simple this year. You can buy them at Walmart, Target, Old Navy or anywhere in the Mall. 

Uniform Policy:
Any Bulkeley Gear
Black or White Collared Shirt
Black Jeans or Khaki pants/shorts (Shorts must be knee length)
No Ripped Jeans
No Leggings
No Workout Shorts
No Inappropriate Shirts
